Erik Clements, Downtown Frederick
As a proud resident of the city of frederick, I urge the city council to pass a resolution calling for the immediate and permanent ceasefire in Israel and Palestine. All life is precious, and any killing of civilians, regardless of their race, ethnicity, or religion is abhorrent and an atrocity. More than 40,000 Palestinians and 1,200 Israelis have been killed since October 7th. Millions of Palestinians, as well as Israelis, have been displaced from their homes or have been unable to leave the area due to violence since October 7th. The city of frederick must affirm the importance of human rights and the safety of both the Palestinian and Israeli civilian population by calling for a bilateral ceasefire, and urging our federally elected officials to do the same.
