I am pleased to see the districting process move according to the timeline proposed last month, and I reviewed, with interest, the study of racial voting patterns. I do have a question though. Why were not the city elections of 2017 and 2021 included in the analysis? We will be voting for councilmembers and the mayor, not a governor or a senator or representatives, etc. It seems to me that there might be differences in how residents vote for local legislators and for state/federal legislators. I guess it's possible that past research has shown that statewide voting behavior analysis are predictive of local election results--but I'm not entirely convinced.
