Tyler Hill, Current Employee of the Frederick Police Department of 17 years. I wanted to comment in support of the Mayors proposal for salary increases for certain tenured staff with the city. As an employee that this would certainly pertain too I hope that the city council looks at this opportunity closely and the employees that it will affect. I started with the city as a police dispatcher, after several years I promoted to Supervisor and now have landed in the role of Body Worn Camera Specialist. Several of those years as a dispatcher just after being hired in 2008 as an 18 year old living on my own, went with little to no raises or raises that didn't begin to cover the increase in benefits or cost of living. Currently, because of those years of little to no raises I have missed out on compounding hourly rate increases and missed out on potentially more money in my promotion in Communications. I hope that the council sees the value in this decision and the investment in the 269 employees with the city who stuck it out and stayed through those years and still continue to show up and work hard everyday despite it.
