I cannot believe that the City is even considering the absolutely inappropriate revision for the Brickworks Lot 4 site plan. The previously presented plan was bad enough; this is so out of character for an entry to our historic city! Did anyone in the Planning Department read the excellent column by Edward T. McMahon about the loss of City character. If not, I suggest you attend his talk at Hood College on the 17th. Will the developer's next revision be neon lighting for their signs? Close your eyes and envision driving north on East Street from I-70. The first taste of downtown Frederick will be a suburban shopping center. Is that what you want to signal to visitors and residents--that Frederick is unable or unwilling to say "no more" to developers who want to turn Frederick into Anytown USA?
