I oppose this proposition. I grew up in Frederick County, was in one of the first graduating classes at Urbana High School, went to the Banner School when it was at the Odd Fellows Home, and now live and work in town with my family. The fact that we are even entertaining the thought of allowing data centers to be built in town is astounding. The significant extremely detrimental health effects of this industry are widely known and published. The constant noise, vibrations, pollution, water use, and heat produced are toxic to us, our children, the animals who live here, and our environment. This is not a science fiction movie - this is real life. Cities are experiencing real drought. Fireflies are dying out. Cancer rates are rising. This is our planet, not our dumping ground, and building data centers will only knock us down the precipitous fall towards collapse. I, for one, want my children to grow up knowing the trees, clean air, enough fresh water - don't you? There should be no question - this push by developers all over the country to build data centers in small towns is because they think we don't have the capacity to fight back, and stand up for our communities, and can be wooed by false promises of revenue! Do not allow these people to sabotage the health of the people who live here. We will be the ones to suffer.

I am writing to express my deep concern over the development of data centers in Frederick City, and especially the zoning changes proposed by Trammell Crow to allow data centers to be built in zones currently allowed as Light Industrial, Mixed Use, or Heavy Industry.

I am highly opposed to data center development in this area. Data centers result in noise pollution, light pollution, air pollution, excessive use and waste of water, higher energy costs for residential customers in the area, and reduction of home values near the data centers.

I am aware there is a meeting this week on data centers. Please consider this my formal public comment on the issue:

NO DATA CENTERS IN FREDERICK! My neighbors and I do not want them here! They will ruin what's left of the beauty, environment, and wildlife we enjoy in this area.
